Henderson founded the Transylvania Land Company, which received a 200,000 acre land grant that Henderson County was formed out of. Although named in his honor, Henderson died 12 years before the founding of the county. Courtesy of the University of Kentucky.

Historical Marker #1206 commemorates the formation of Henderson County. Located in western Kentucky along the Ohio River, Henderson County was the thirty-eighth county to be formed.
