Licking River and Ohio River

The Newport Barracks were strategically constructed at the juncture of the Licking and Ohio Rivers. While the placement of the base was a good strategic move, the site proved ineffective as flooding forced the post to be moved to higher ground. Photograph courtesy of Katie Crawford-Lackey.
