Frontier Nursing Service

Frontier Nursing Service was founded in 1925 by Mary Breckinridge. Its headquarters located in Leslie County, FNS provided medical service to remote areas of southeastern Kentucky throughout the 20th Century. Ms. Breckinridge dedicated her life to the betterment of healthcare for all, but particularly women and children. Courtesy of the National Park Service.
