This 1853 woodcut shows the Kentucky War Memorial in the Frankfort Cemetery. Inscribed on the monument are the names of battles in which Kentucky soldiers participated. They include Blue Licks (Revolutionary War), River Raisin, New Orleans (War of 1812), Buena Vista, and Monterey (Mexican-American War). Courtesy of the Kentucky Historical Society.
